Gundam Card Game
Gundam on Sideboard tracks the complete English catalog — all GD-series expansion sets, starter decks, Edition Beta, and the promotional token sets (EX Base and Resource Tokens). Gundam’s catalog is defined by its five-color system (Blue, Green, Red, White, Purple), Link Condition mechanic, and a card type structure that includes Units, Pilots, Commands, Bases, and Resources.
Sets & Catalog
Sideboard covers all published Gundam Card Game sets:
| Product type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Expansion | GD01 (Newtype Rising), Edition Beta (EB01), future GD-series sets |
| Starter | Starter Deck 01: Heroic Beginnings, and subsequent starter decks |
| Promo | Promotional EX Base Tokens (EXBP), Promotional Resource Tokens (EXRP), Resource Tokens (RP) |
New sets appear in Sideboard’s catalog within 24 hours of TCGPlayer listing them.
Cards & Variants
Each Gundam card in Sideboard includes:
- Card number — e.g., “GD01-001”
- Card type — Unit, Pilot, Command, Base, Resource, EX Base, or EX Resource
- Colors — Blue, Green, Red, White, or Purple; multi-color cards are supported
- Level — the level requirement for the card
- Cost — resource cost to play
- Attack Points (AP) — for Units and Pilots
- Hit Points (HP) — for Units and Pilots; Commands and Bases have neither AP nor HP
- Traits — faction and affiliation tags (e.g., “Earth Federation,” “White Base Team,” “Zeon”)
- Link Condition — specifies which Pilot links with which Unit, or which Trait is required for linking (displayed exactly as printed on the card, e.g., “[Amuro Ray]” or “(White Base Team) Trait”)
- Rarity — C (Common), UC (Uncommon), R (Rare), SR (Super Rare), LR (Legend Rare), U+ (Common+ Foil)
- Effect text
Multi-color cards
Gundam cards can have multiple colors. When filtering by color, multi-color cards appear in results for each of their component colors. Buylist rules that target a specific color will match multi-color cards that include that color.
Finishes
Gundam currently tracks Normal as the standard finish. Alternate treatments appear as separate catalog entries with their own pricing.
Pricing
Gundam pricing tracks per condition (Near Mint through Damaged) with no finish split for standard cards.
Prices update every 6 hours for cards in your active inventory, daily for the rest. See How pricing works.
LR (Legend Rare) is the top rarity tier. As a newer game, Gundam’s market prices can be particularly volatile in the first weeks after a new set — consider building buylist prices conservatively and adjusting up as the market stabilizes.
Common Workflows
Browsing by color:
- Use the Color filter on the catalog page; multi-color cards appear under each of their colors
- Combine Color and Card Type to find, say, all Blue Units
Trait-based buying:
- Filter by traits like “Earth Federation” or “Zeon” to target faction cards
- Traits are the primary faction identifier in Gundam — they work similarly to sub-types in One Piece
Managing Link Condition:
- The Link Condition column shows what each Unit requires as a Pilot link (or what Trait it accepts)
- Useful for customers building link-based combo decks
Token sets:
- EX Base Tokens (EXBP), EX Resource Tokens (EXRP), and Resource Tokens (RP) are promotional insert sets
- They appear in the catalog under Promo product type; card types EX Base and EX Resource are specific to these token sets
Gotchas
LR (Legend Rare) is Gundam’s equivalent of a Secret Rare. The rarity code is “LR” — don’t confuse it with “L” (which is the Leader rarity code in One Piece). In Gundam, U+ (Common+ Foil) denotes a foil treatment of Common cards — it is not a rarity tier between Uncommon and Rare.
Link Condition is Pilot-to-Unit, not a generic keyword. Not all Units have a Link Condition, and not all Pilots link with all Units. The Link Condition on a card specifies exactly who or what can link with it — it’s displayed verbatim.
Token sets are promotional, not packs you open. EX Base and Resource Token sets contain promo token cards included as inserts in other products. They’re tracked in Sideboard for completeness and pricing but aren’t sold as standalone booster products.
Edition Beta (EB01) is an expansion, not a starter. Despite the “B” in its code suggesting beta/base, Edition Beta is classified as an expansion set alongside the GD-series boosters.
Gundam is a newer game. Market depth (number of active buyers and sellers) is still building. Price data may show wider spreads or thinner market data for some cards compared to more established games.
