Collection grid
The product listing for a category — a grid of cards with filters down the side.
What it’s for. Letting people browse and narrow a group of products. It’s tuned for cards: facets for game, rarity, and color/type alongside set, price, and in-stock. Shoppers filter, sort, and page through without the whole screen reloading.
When to use it. This is the collection template, so it runs on every collection page. Three variants ship: the default (grid with filters), list (rows instead of cards, good for dense singles inventory), and no-filters (grid only — for small or already-focused collections where a sidebar is overkill).
Filters (the TCG part)
- The sidebar’s source can be Sideboard filters (live card-aware facets and counts from your Sideboard inventory, configured in the Sideboard app — keeps working on huge collections, past the ~5,000 products where Shopify’s own filtering quits), Search & Discovery filters (Shopify’s native filtering, rendered exactly as you configure it in the Search & Discovery app), or off. You set a store-wide default in theme settings and can override it per template with this section’s Filter source setting. The full guide — how each works, setup, per-collection overrides, troubleshooting — is Collection filters.
Ways to use it
- Singles by set — list view, filters on, so buyers scan a long list and narrow to one set fast.
- Sealed product — grid at 4 columns, in-stock toggle on, light on facets.
- Featured or tiny collection — the no-filters variant, full-width grid.
Tips
- The filter sidebar needs both this section’s “Enable filtering” toggle on and a filter source in effect (the theme setting, or this section’s Filter source override). In Search & Discovery mode it also hides when nothing is configured in the S&D app — see Collection filters.
- Products per page rounds to fill complete rows for your column count, so the bottom row isn’t ragged.
- Bigger column counts step down on narrower screens (5 to 4 to 3), collapsing to a single column on phones — set columns for the desktop look you want.
- Higher per-page values mean a heavier first load; keep it sensible on image-heavy grids.
- The grid/list toggle remembers each shopper’s choice, so don’t expect everyone to see your default view.
