Sign-ups and attendees
How customers sign up
A customer opens your public calendar (app.sideboard.gg/c/[your-store-slug]/calendar, or your storefront’s events page), picks a night, and fills in a short form:
| Field | Required? |
|---|---|
| Name | Optional |
| Required | |
| Player tag | Only when you’ve turned on Collect player tag for that event |
No Sideboard account is needed. Sign-up is guest-first by design — asking a walk-in player to create an account before they can register for FNM loses you the registration. If they are signed in, their email is prefilled but still editable, and whatever they submit is what lands on your roster.
The dialog shows the ticket price and how it’s collected (“pay in person at the event”, “you’ll pay securely at checkout”, or “tickets sold on eventbrite.com” when the event has an external ticket link), the featured image if you’ve set one, and how many spots are left.
What customers see when things go wrong:
- “This event is full.” — capacity is reached. Raise the capacity on the event and the seat opens up.
- “You’re already registered for this event.” — one sign-up per email, per night.
- “Online payment isn’t available for this event right now.” — you’re set to collect online but Shopify isn’t ready. See Tickets and payment.
Cancelling a sign-up. Customers with a Sideboard account can cancel their own registration. Guests can’t — they contact you, and you remove them from the roster.
Running the night
Open Calendar → click the event → find the date under Upcoming occurrences → click Attendees.
The roster shows everyone confirmed for that night:
| Column | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Name | What they typed at sign-up. A Shopify badge means the registration came from a Shopify order — usually a walk-up rung through your POS. |
| How you reach them. | |
| Player tag | Their in-game handle, when you collect it. |
| Payment | Free, or a dropdown you set: Unpaid, Paid, Comped. |
| Registered | When they signed up. |
Marking payment
For a paid event, everyone starts as Unpaid — a reserved seat, not yet money in the till. As players pay at the counter, flip them to Paid on the roster. Comped covers the ones you’re not charging: staff, judges, a make-good for last week.
Free events show a Free badge instead of a dropdown — there’s nothing to collect.
If you collect online through Shopify, this is handled for you: paid orders flip the registration to Paid automatically, and refunds show as Refunded. See Tickets and payment.
Exporting the roster
Click Export signups above the attendee table and Sideboard downloads a CSV for that night containing Name, Email, Player Tag, and Payment status.
Use it for pairings software, a printed check-in sheet, or your mailing list.
Capacity and spots
Capacity is set per event, and every night of a recurring series inherits it. The public calendar shows “N of M spots remaining” and marks a full night Full; your own calendar shows the same count in the day panel.
Leave capacity blank for an uncapped event — league nights, casual play — and Sideboard never turns anyone away.
