Events on your storefront
Your Shopify storefront can show your events natively — no embed, no iframe, no theme-side lookup. Sideboard publishes each event night into your Shopify store, and the theme’s events sections render it server-side like any other page.
The practical upshot: your events are real pages on your own domain, each with its own URL and a sitemap entry, so they’re linkable and findable in search.
What you have to do
Connect Shopify. That’s it.
Sideboard creates the event structure in your store on connection and keeps every event in step from then on. You don’t create event entries by hand — editing an event in Sideboard is what updates your storefront.
If you built event entries in Shopify yourself before, they’re left alone: Sideboard adds what it needs and never strips fields you added.
What gets published
| Storefront listing | Ticket product | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The event’s page — title, date, time, description, image | The thing customers buy |
| Which events | Every active event, free or paid | Paid events only, and only when you collect online |
| How far ahead | 180 days | 60 days |
The wider listing window exists so customers can page forward through your calendar months in advance without hitting a wall of empty months.
Free events and in-person-payment events are listed — they simply have no ticket attached, and the theme falls through to its “register in store” wording.
Keeping in step
- Edits publish immediately. Change a time, swap the image, cancel a night — the storefront follows within moments.
- A daily sweep rolls the window forward, so tomorrow’s newly-in-range night publishes itself without you touching anything.
- Cancelled nights stay listed, marked cancelled, so customers who planned around them see what happened.
- Deleted nights disappear, and so do nights your recurrence rule no longer generates. If you move FNM from Friday to Saturday, the old Fridays come down rather than advertising nights you don’t run.
Displaying events in your theme
The Sideboard theme has three sections that read your published events:
- Events overview — the full events page, as an agenda, calendar, or card grid
- Upcoming events — a compact homepage teaser of the next few
- Event details — the single-event landing page, applied automatically to every event
If your events aren’t showing up
A “reconnect Shopify” banner in Sideboard. Event listings and featured images need permissions your store may not have granted yet. Click through the banner to re-authorize. If re-authorizing doesn’t clear it, email support — some stores need their private app updated on Shopify’s side first, which we do for you.
Nothing on the storefront at all. Check that the events section is added to a page in your Shopify theme editor. The theme ships the sections but doesn’t place them for you.
Events vanished. The most common cause is billing: if your subscription goes past due, your calendar and its storefront listings come down until the invoice clears. Check Settings → Organization → Billing.
